Fit for Sound to Narrows (Fit4S2N) is a coach-structured, six- to eight-week training program designed by MultiCare Center for Health Equity and Wellness. Fit4S2N gets students ages 12 and younger ready to compete in the annual Sound to Narrows 2K run. Participating elementary schools throughout Pierce County have dedicated coaches who help young athletes of all abilities train to walk or run the 1.2 mile route.
Dates to remember
- April 21: Training programs begin this week at registered schools
- May 15: Last day for Fit4S2N race registration (items will be delivered to your coach race day week)
- June 14: 2K race begins at 8am in Vassault Park
Optional cost
- $10 for 2K (ages 5-12 yrs) S2N registration fee
- $10 for 5k and 12k (ages 5-18 yrs) S2N registration fee
- Adult fees apply for those 19 years and older.
Materials provided to coaches will include Sound to Narrows posters and S2N gift for participating students. Sound to Narrows staff and/or Tacoma City Running Club, upon request, will provide instruction and inspiration from Tacoma’s top runners and coaches. All Sound to Narrows racers will receive an official race day T-shirt, bib/timing chip and finishers medal, and the top three boys and top three girls will be announced at the stage beginning at 9:45am race day.
